Today marks one week until the government – or at least a quarter of it – shuts down without a budget deal.Â Congress has already funded 75% of government operations, but hundreds of thousands of federal employees would go unpaid if a deal is reached in time.
Authorities in Richmond say a teen and police officers exchanged gunfire outside the Dennis Intermediate School Thursday morning. Officers say the 14-year-old boy then ran inside the school and killed himself. Students from the school were taken to Richmond High School for parents to pick them up.
Multiple bomb threats were made across the United States Thursday, including several in central Indiana. The Hamilton County Sheriffâs Office says they received 10 bomb threats by 3 p.m. The Muncie YMCA says they received a threat as well. Investigators say the threats were meant to cause disruption and are not considered credible.

Anderson’s new Lafayette Water Treatment Plant could be brought online as early as January. The $9.3 million plant that is expected to treat 10 million gallons of water a day and can be expanded to handle 12 million gallons daily in the future. Testing of the new plant will start later this month.
The office of U.S. Senator Todd Young says it was able to return more than $3 million owed to Hoosiers by various federal agencies. The office helps residents appeal when payments like veteranâs disability benefits and Social Security benefits are improperly denied.
Ball State students who have completed their degree requirements by the end of fall semester will be taking part in the BSU Fall Commencement this Saturday at Worthen Arena. The ceremonies are expected to last from 10am until 1pm.
The 78th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy completed their graduation ceremony in the Indiana State Capitol Rotunda. After the commencement address the oath of office for the 54 new state police officers was delivered. Each new trooper was then presented their badge and official identification by the superintendent and his staff.
